Let’s draw a pizza van driving by.  Follow me step by step.  But, look out!  I’ve got a surprise for you at the end…don’t peak!

I’m going to redraw the same pizza van but make the bottom part of it taller…try it!

I’m enjoying making these drawing steps out on my front porch in Arkansas…sun shinning, wind blowing but not too hot…looks like this…

But wait!  What’s this….good thing I got my camera so I could show you what I see driving past my house!

What kind of background will you draw for your cartoon delivery van?  Have fun trying something that is unexpected and be sure and show your mom and dad!

Drawing Car #1…things that go zoom!

April 29, 2012

Thanks all of you who commented on what  to draw…I heard you.  So let’s start with a car…and put a couple of doodle bugs inside it.  Follow along with the steps I’ll show you.   Here we go….zoom! zoom!

Way to go with your drawing!  You can build a whole scene now around your doodle bugs in a car…maybe they are in a big city or maybe they are driving down a country road with a farm in the background or maybe they are driving next to the ocean or maybe they are driving on the moon?!  You get to decide and make the picture the way you want.

Let me show you one more thing….the picture below shows the same car, but I did something different to make it look like it’s going faster…..maybe you want to draw your car again on another piece of paper and try it like I’ve drawn it below!  Have fun drawing!

You’re sooooooo creative!

Creative Rewards Idea

April 25, 2012

Thanks everyone for your great comments and suggestions and encouragements…I am already putting together the next step by step drawing in a series I am calling, “Things that go zoom!”.  I’m starting with cars…that will be out soon.  Please continue to send comments or ideas…I enjoy hearing from you!

I just finished another painting for my children’s book, Tiny the Birthday Dog.  Yipeee!  I have 7 paintings to go now before I get through with this project.  I have done 10 paintings so far and I am shooting to complete this by the end of May.  How do I keep going forward with that much work staring in the face daily?  Will I make it?  (hope so!)  If you will watch this little video, I will share with you the finished painting but also a strategy for me to keep working and finish….maybe it will give you some ideas for your own projects that you have to get done….

Hearing you

April 20, 2012

I can’t sit down and talk with those who come to my drawing site but we can talk through “comments”.  Would you take a moment and tell me what drawing activities you like on my site (you can even say why)…do you like the videos?  Is there something you would like to see more of?  Is what I am offering helpful to your kids…easy to follow?

I want to empower your kids to draw more and more and enjoy it.

This input will help me hone my site to your needs…and that is my desire.

thanks so much!

Children’s Book cover sneak peak

April 15, 2012

I haven’t put on a drawing post in a good while because I have three big creative projects going on and I have to get them done by a certain day.  This has left me very little time to do anything else.  Today I will show you a couple of paintings from one of the projects…a children’s book called, Tiny the Birthday Dog.  One painting is from inside the book and one painting is the cover of the book.  The cover painting is important because it is what people see when they are looking for a book to read…it needs to be a picture that echoes the book title and make the reader want to look inside.  Hope you enjoy it….I have several more paintings before this book is finished.

Draw Ploosh the doodle bug

March 13, 2012

Glad you could join me today to draw!  We’re drawing Ploosh the doodle bug.  He’ll help us work on your rounded lines

and shapes.  The big curly Q lines in the wings are fun to make.  So, watch me draw Ploosh first and then follow me

in the steps below the video.  When you get Ploosh finished, maybe you will want to make another Ploosh but decorate

his wings in a different way…any way you like!

Thank you to my horse-loving wife

January 16, 2012

It is a good thing to thank others in our life.  They are special and they need to know it.  I want to thank my wife, Angie, who stood by me and comforted me in the recent death of my mother.  Angie is the head horseman coordinator (over 40 horses) at the Christian camp, New Life Ranch (summer camp info) in Colcord, OK.  She helps kids from all over learn about riding horses and knowing Jesus Christ.   Angie, You go girl!  (music by Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel..Hesitation Blues)

Stay tuned, drawers, I’ll have a new drawing activity soon!
