Thank you to my horse-loving wife

January 16, 2012

It is a good thing to thank others in our life.  They are special and they need to know it.  I want to thank my wife, Angie, who stood by me and comforted me in the recent death of my mother.  Angie is the head horseman coordinator (over 40 horses) at the Christian camp, New Life Ranch (summer camp info) in Colcord, OK.  She helps kids from all over learn about riding horses and knowing Jesus Christ.   Angie, You go girl!  (music by Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel..Hesitation Blues)

Stay tuned, drawers, I’ll have a new drawing activity soon!

PURPOSE

December 15, 2011

A very Merry Christmas to you all!

Every person alive has a purpose…you are one of those people!  You are important!  The One True God made you with a purpose in mind.  He equipped you with all you need to accomplish that purpose.  Purpose gives us a reason to live and sense of significance in life.  And because God is love, He wants you to know what that is and He wants you to enjoy it with Him.  He enjoys you and delights to call you His creation!

At 53 my purpose is still being defined in my heart by Him and little by little becoming more clear.  Because God has healed me of so much fear in my own heart, I want to help others gain courage and go past their fears through the wonderful means of a tool God invented called creativity.  As this happens the enjoyment of life grows greater and greater.  The answer lies in His son, Jesus Christ!

All of us begin the journey of wanting to know our purpose by simply asking our Creator.  Then, we listen and stay alert to His leading.  It is a thrilling adventure!

Do you know what your purpose is?

Draw a Thanksgiving Turkey!

November 16, 2011

HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!  What a wonderful time of year!  This holiday is a great reminder to practise being thankful all the days of the year.  Today we will draw a turkey together. I would advise using a pencil (with an eraser) and not a pen.  I’m not going to write very much…instead,  I’ll let the photos show you step by step.

By the way, if you want to download the turkey we are drawing today and make copies to let kids color them at Thanksgiving (or whenever), you can find it here.  The file is in the folder called, Thanksgiving Turkey coloring.  It’s even got a great Bible verse on it to help you remember why we give thanks.  After you color it, why not have it laminated and use it as a placemat during this season!  And you can make your own border design around the picture…I left you room to be creative.  Have fun!  (be sure and tell others about this little project!)  Here is what the picture looks like..

Ok, let’s get to drawing our turkey!  You will need to turn your paper sideways to start….(click on the photo to see it larger because the quality of the photos is poor…sorry!)

After you finish your turkey picture with pencil and have it just like you want it, you could take a sharpie or a black pen and go over your lines…then color it.

And I will close this post by saying, “I’m thankful that you like to draw!”.

The gift of fun and creativity

November 1, 2011

As the Pick and Draw Game continues to be used and enjoyed around the world, it has been a delight and a wonder to see how many people have enjoyed getting to be creative in such a simple, fun way.  It surprises most people as they see their own creativity come out…usually they want to show it to someone else and there is giggling and laughter happening.  Sometimes it even gets downright loud!  That has always been my hope….like someone waking up from a coma…all of us need creativity happening in our life to keep it fresh and growing.  Our stress filled lives often rob us of the desire to enjoy our little moments in the day.  God invented creativity and we are made in His image.  Even drawing little silly cartoon faces can release this gush of creativity inside us.  I  hope you will think of a friend  or a family  that might enjoy (and need) Pick and Draw this Christmas.  To encourage these thoughts, during November and December I am offering a discount when you buy more than one game.  Let’s keep drawing and enjoying the creativity God has put in each one of us!  (Keep lots of clean paper on hand!)

Draw along with me as we make a box come alive doing different things!

Remember that if I draw too fast, you can always “pause” and catch up.

Come join me in the journey I am on to create my 10th children’s book called, Tiny, The Birthday Dog!

I am recording this one year process and I think you will find it interesting and helpful in your own creative picture-making

as you see the creative process unfold.  There will be lots of pictures and maybe some videos.

It will happen in two phases….

SKETCHES stage (which I will use to know what to paint for the book)…these are due Nov. 1, 2011

and

PAINT stage….due July, 2012

Drop in and take a look around to see how Tiny and gang are celebrating his birthday!

This will be a great instructional tool for classrooms and kid’s learning opportunities!

Perhaps this will lead to some classroom skype sessions as well if classes want to ask me questions or hear more about the creative process of making a children’s book.

When you get to the site, whatever is showing when you open the home page is the latest post…the ones before it will be listed at the right side if you want to go back.  Thanks!

The blog is called, Creating Tiny Book

Hello again from the art guy who lives here

August 18, 2011

It’s been too long since I posted last.  Wow….time just flies by.  I hope you have been enjoying your summer and gotten to do some drawing for the fun of it!  To those who have my Pick and Draw game, don’t forget to ask your grandparents if they will make a couple of pictures with you (and name their character!).  That’s a fun time for sure!

Here are some cowboy things that I drew that you might have fun trying to draw by looking at them and seeing if you can put down the biggest shape first and then begin adding on the details.  Have fun!

Please stay tuned a little longer as I will be adding new ways to draw and be creative in the fall season…there will be alot to do!

From the art guy who lives here

God bless you all!
